Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) Grant Program

The Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) was announced in September 2009 by FedDev Ontario. Its purpose is to promote rural socio-economic development in South Western Ontario, which will lead to a competitive and diversified regional economy. This in turn will contribute to the successful development of business opportunities, job opportunities, and a sustainable self-reliant community.

There is a total of three categories to apply for. Each category has its own purpose and eligibility criteria.

*NOTE: A requirement for municipally submitted projects that any application must include a copy of the resolution from council indicating their support of the project and application, before application is accepted for consideration by SNCFDC.

Business Development - (NFP/Private Sectors)
|
Applications will be accepted from legal commercial entities, or their representative associations; Non-Profit Organizations or Aboriginal organizations, and will support research; business planning and marketing development; development of export planning and activities; feasibility studies, research and development initiatives, strategic plans, trade show attendance and other activities designed to stimulate business opportunities in the area. Skills Development and Internships - (NFP/Private Sectors)
|
In acknowledgment of the significant financial investment required to train employees, applications may include on-the-job training costs, classroom training, management skills development, workshops, seminars and other related expenses. Funds will support legal commercial entities, or their representative associations; Non-Profit Organizations or Aboriginal organizations, by contributing to and encouraging further training of new or existing full-time employees (excl. seasonal employees), resulting in improved transferable skill sets for employers and in an enhanced local labour force. Internships are available for Youth and Non-Youth placements. Eligible activities for Intern placements are to include (one or more of) economic, tourism and/or community development activities; business and trade opportunities;. strategic planning, feasibility and marketing studies; marketing projects; research and analysis; training programs and technological innovations including commercialization of new technologies. Local Initiatives and Community Capacity Program - (NFP Sector)
|
Delivered in partnership with local municipalities and/or area not-for-profit organizations, or Aboriginal organizations, applications will stimulate business and economic development opportunities and may support activities such as; community-based economic development projects, research projects, marketing/promotional activities, tourism events, facilitation of seminars/workshops, export and trade initiatives and small scale capital projects.
